A pattern or cycle is anything we find ourselves repeatedly bumping into. These patterns can be new, long lasting or even generational. It is often easy to observe someone else repeating the “same mistakes over and over again”, but it is sometimes difficult to see this in ourselves or understand the reasons why. Sometimes when we find ourselves bumping into the same situation, or making the same error, it is because there is still more for us to learn there. In fact, we humans are natural problem solvers, trouble shooters and lovers of mystery. This can be why, in an effort to “figure it all out”, we continually revisit something even though it’s painful.
Patterns can also be the result of learned or ingrained teachings, examples shown to us by others, a result of trauma or even abuse. Recognizing a pattern is the first step to resolving it, however the work to moving through a pattern (especially a long standing one) can be heavy and complicated work.
