2022 Personal Year Numbers: Mid-Year Check-In

We are half way through 2022 and so we have just 6 months left with the themes of our Personal Year Numbers, which we thoroughly explored in a post late last year. Given we’re mid-year, we thought we’d revisit this topic to a) provide some reflections for you to see how your number has so far shown up in 2022 and b) highlight ways you can continue to make the most of its vibration for the remainder of 2022.

For us, the purpose of the 9 Year Cycle isn't about divining the future or knowing for sure what we can expect. It is about becoming attune to the divine nature of numbers by placing them against our own experiences and contemplations. In this way, much like with the moon, we fall into the rhythmic cycle of numbers, able to discern not only their meaning, but their patterns and the patterns underlying ourselves and nature.

As a reminder, here is the calculation for determining your Personal Year Number for 2022. Keep in mind, these numbers move in chronological order, so if you’re in a Year 7 in 2022, that means you were in a Year 6 in 2021 and will be in a Year 8 in 2023.

Date of Birth + Month of Birth + Current Year =

If your birthday is December 22, then the calculation would look like this…

22+12+2022 = 2056

Next, take the sum and continue to add and reduce the digits until you get a single one.

2+0+5+6 = 13
1+3 = 4

Note, it does not matter how you break these numbers down, you’re always going to end up with the same single digit. In other words, you could add “22+12+2022” or “2+2+1+2+2+0+2+2” and at the end of the day, it’s all going to boil down to 4.

Once you know your number, you can find it in the list below and read more about what that may mean for you as you continue to navigate 2022!

One

1 is something out of nothing (0); manifestation from the void of possibility. This isn’t a natural birth in the way that we know it. The number 1, flowing from 0, is beyond conception. This is why we see it in terms of beginnings. Like a spark, a flame, the first single cell…the number 1 denotes origin out of inspiration and will.

Practically speaking a 1 Year can be about starting new projects, asserting yourself as an individual and using your imagination to plan for the future.

Primary Tarot Archetype: The Magician
Secondary Tarot Archetypes: The Wheel of Fortune, The Sun
Mundane Tarot Archetypes: The Aces

Tarot Reflections: If you are in a Personal Year 1 for 2022, your tarot archetype is The Magician. Examine the imagery above (or whatever Magician imagery resonates with you most). How have you so far been able to embody this energy, and in what ways can you continue to call upon it to get the most of the next 6 months?

Want to go deeper? Isolate the 4 Aces from your deck. You will regard each of these 4 cards as lessons that a Year 1 can teach. Place them face down and shuffle them around on a flat surface, or in your hands if that’s easier. You’re going to blindly select 2. The first card will represent a lesson you’ve done well at integrating thus far into the year. The second card will represent a lesson you’re being encouraged to continue working on before 2022 closes. The other two cards that did not get pulled may be of lesser importance or may not be relevant for this particular Year 1.

Two

2 is 1 looking back on itself. It is a mirror or a reflection. It is the only number that cannot make a shape that connects itself wholly. It is parallel. Tim came to me the other day with a passage from a book he was reading which said “...2 is an illusion”. That stopped my brain in its tracks, but it couldn't be more accurate. Like the Zen Koan “No water, No Moon”, 2 simply doesn’t exist…talk about a reflection for our most reflective number.

Practically speaking a 2 Year can be about examining yourself in relationship to others and your environment, facing your shadows, exploring polarizing aspects of yourself and developing your inner faculties such as intuition.

Primary Tarot Archetype: The High Priestess
Secondary Tarot Archetypes: Justice, Judgement
Mundane Tarot Archetypes: The 2s

Tarot Reflections: If you are in a Personal Year 2 for 2022, your tarot archetype is The High Priestess. Examine the imagery above (or whatever High Priestess imagery resonates with you most). How have you so far been able to embody this energy, and in what ways can you continue to call upon it to get the most of the next 6 months?

Want to go deeper? Isolate the 4 2s from your deck. You will regard each of these 4 cards as lessons that a Year 2 can teach. The other two cards that did not get pulled may be of lesser importance or may not be relevant for this particular Year 2.

Three

3 is synthesis because it is what happens when 1 and 2 come together. It is the offspring. 3 forms a triangle and thus symbolizes the holy trinity, body-mind-spirit connection and many other sacred concepts. 3 also relates to the tri-nature of man, one of which can be expressed by contemplating these distinct aspects of our being: the thinker, the thing being thought and the one observing this process.

Practically speaking a 3 Year can be about cultivating creativity in your life, finding ways to express yourself and engaging in your community and social circles.

Primary Tarot Archetype: The Empress
Secondary Tarot Archetypes: The Hanged Man, The World

Want to go deeper? Isolate the 4 3s from your deck. You will regard each of these 4 cards as lessons that a Year 3 can teach. Four

After creativity comes stability and structure as represented by the sturdy and orderly square. It puts borders and frames around our ideas, while also protecting them and keeping them safe. This is why 4 is often seen as an authority figure or a leader. It is built strong, with a firm foundation, and a surety about its place in the world.

Practically speaking a 4 Year can be about creating firmer boundaries for yourself, taking care of resources and finances, establishing internal and external stability and exercising your powers of authority.

Primary Tarot Archetype: The Emperor
Secondary Tarot Archetype: Death
Mundane Tarot Archetypes: The 4s

Tarot Reflections: If you are in a Personal Year 4 for 2022, your tarot archetype is The Emperor. Examine the imagery above (or whatever Emperor imagery resonates with you most). How have you so far been able to embody this energy, and in what ways can you continue to call upon it to get the most of the next 6 months?

Want to go deeper? Isolate the 4 4s from your deck. You will regard each of these 4 cards as lessons that a Year 4 can teach. Five

If 4 creates structure, then 5 is what breaks it. 5 also represents man (4 fingers and a thumb), which in many ways cuts through evolution, marking a clear distinction between us and animals. It is a tricky point in the cycle and in humanity as it signifies a period of trial, marred by waves of change, before we can ascend.

Practically speaking a 5 Year can be about big changes, challenges both internally and externally and the exploration of what freedom truly means to you.

Primary Tarot Archetype: The Hierophant
Secondary Tarot Archetype: Temperance
Mundane Tarot Archetypes: The 5s

Tarot Reflections: If you are in a Personal Year 5 for 2022, your tarot archetype is The Hierophant. Examine the imagery above (or whatever Hierophant imagery resonates with you most). How have you so far been able to embody this energy, and in what ways can you continue to call upon it to get the most of the next 6 months?

Want to go deeper? Isolate the 4 5s from your deck. You will regard each of these 4 cards as lessons that a Year 5 can teach. Place them face down and shuffle them around on a flat surface, or in your hands if that’s easier. You’re going to blindly select 2. The first card will represent a lesson you’ve done well at integrating thus far into the year. Six

If we can move through the trials that the number 5 presents, with grace and an open heart, we may come into harmony not only with ourselves, but with the whole. 6 is often seen in domestic terms: being of service, seeking beauty, taking care of ourselves and the environment. The number 6 delivers us from turbulent waters and puts us in touch with the virtues needed to live a high and righteous life.

Practically speaking a 6 Year can be about being of service, creating a safe home environment for yourself and those you love, finding ways to surround yourself with beauty and cultivating harmony in all things.

Seven

7 is a highly spiritual number, related to meditation, contemplation and revelation. It is a number that requires us to go within, to seek our own truth, to wait for messages to be revealed, and to accept what is given with a humble heart. It is no coincidence that the number 7 is so prominent among many spiritual and religious systems. With it, we can understand ourselves, the universe and the nature of reality as a whole. Consider the 7 ancient planets, 7 chakras, The 7 Musical Notes, 7 Steps on Jacob’s Ladder, The 7 Seals, The 7 Alchemical Steps, 7 Days of Creation, the 7 commandments etc.

Practically speaking a 7 Year can be about spiritual development, self inquiry, meditation, inner growth, revelations and major breakthroughs.

Eight

In many ways, the number 8 relates to divine law. The shape of the 8 is that of infinity standing upright, like an hourglass. It demonstrates the law of cycles, rhythm and cause and effect. There is probably a reason why the Justice card in tarot sometimes occupies the 8th place in the deck. In this way, karma also plays a key role. It states that nothing happens in a vacuum. Everything we do, say, think or feel comes from somewhere and impacts something else. This is much like The Wheel of Fortune as well. What goes around, comes around, and when we understand the laws underlying all of this movement, we can become empowered to work within the current rather than against it. Or better yet, break free of it altogether.

Practically speaking an 8 Year can be about setting and achieving goals, hard work toward the right causes, gaining recognition, overcoming adversity and finding our energy centre.

Primary Tarot Archetype: Strength
Secondary Tarot Archetype: The Star
Mundane Tarot Archetypes: The 8s

Tarot Reflections: If you are in a Personal Year 8 for 2022, your tarot archetype is Strength. Examine the imagery above (or whatever Strength imagery resonates with you most). The other two cards that did not get pulled may be of lesser importance or may not be relevant for this particular Year 8.

Nine

And if ever there was an archetype for breaking free of a cycle, 9 is it. It is the final symbol of the single digits. Much like The Hermit, it represents attainment, illumination and wisdom gained. After 9 comes 10, the start of the next cycle, or 1 if we reduce to a single digit. In short, it is a number of consolidation; taking everything gained and applying it forward, for ourselves and humanity.

Practically speaking a 9 Year can be about assessing where you are and where you’d like to go, reflecting on what has been, closing chapters, coming to important realizations, completing lessons and getting to know oneself.

Primary Tarot Archetype: The Hermit
Secondary Tarot Archetype: The Moon
Mundane Tarot Archetypes: The 9s

Tarot Reflections: If you are in a Personal Year 9 for 2022, your tarot archetype is The Hermit. Examine the imagery above (or whatever Hermit imagery resonates with you most). How have you so far been able to embody this energy, and in what ways can you continue to call upon it to get the most of the next 6 months?

Want to go deeper? Isolate the 4 9s from your deck. You will regard each of these 4 cards as lessons that a Year 9 can teach. The other two cards that did not get pulled may be of lesser importance or may not be relevant for this particular Year 9.
