If you’re in a Year-3, this is not the time to tuck yourself away and hide. After a connected Year 2, you’re being called to ask yourself, “how can I stand out and shine?” Some of this, of course, may be deep and introspective work, however, the gains you make inwardly will reflect on the surface as well. It’s not just about who you are, but what that translates to in the physical world.

In all forms of your life this year, you will want to explore how you can best show up as the truest and highest expression of yourself. This means wearing what makes you feel good, consuming things that resonate (media, entertainment, culture, food etc.), speaking boldly, creating for the joy of it, experimenting with new things and then finding communities in alignment with all of that (if it calls to you).

Think of a Year 3 as one suited for exploration, curiosity and play. The need to live outwardly may also attract just the right people or groups who match your particular vibe, which is why it’s important that focus is also placed on authenticity. If we are projecting an inaccurate image, we attract the wrong crowd and misaligned opportunities. Be true to you!

Year 3s also carry a lot of potential to really test the boundaries of creativity. Not everyone is an artist by traditional definitions, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t an artist in your own right. Whether it be writing, sculpture, drama, design, fine arts, cinematography, dancing, photography, baking or anything else - finding an outlet that brings you joy and allows you to express yourself freely is key

In a Year 3, it’s all about what makes you feel good and allows you to show the world who you are. Indulge, give yourself space to explore, call in the right friends and acquaintances who get your vision, and have fun! This is not the year to stifle your spark; find what you are passionate about, no matter what it looks like, and dive in!

Conscious Ways to Integrate the Number 3

  • Select a card from your favourite Tarot or Oracle and let it inspire you to write a short poem or story.

  • Contemplate the symbolism of a triangle.

  • If you’re into astrology, consider what a trine in one’s chart would symbolize.

  • In 2024, we are collectively in a Year 8. This is the year of Strength and carries the theme of generation (power, effort, results). A Year 3 in a Year 8 could be summed up with the following affirmation: “I generate creativity as I explore personal and artistic forms of expression this year”. Primary Archetype: The Empress

The Empress is regarded as The Mother of the tarot deck and this is because they are known both as a nurturer and someone who can create/give birth (in all forms). As you move through your Year 3, know that you too may find yourself with an increased inclination to bare fruit. This could be a literal birth or a figurative one - think creative projects, matters of self-improvement or even business ventures with a personal touch!

And speaking of touch, whatever the Empress graces gets to experience her power and magick first hand. Know that with her as your primary archetype, you have the ability to influence those around you in a positive way. The Empress brings people together for the greater good, for the love of company, and with the desire to watch all flourish in their own unique way. Take care this year to nourish others and in turn, yourself. The Empress would never deny or suppress their desires, whether they be intellectual, physical, sexual, creative or otherwise. It is important to embody that energy and know that in order to be an incredible caregiver, your own needs must also be given priority status.

Secondary Archetype: The Hanged Man

There is one keyword in particular that comes to mind when considering The Hanged Man in the context of a Personal Year 3, and that word is “surrender”. The message here is to take pause (amidst all the creation) to ensure your moves are also serving the greater good. While the Hanged Man may look uncomfortable, it is important to recognize this state for what it is - the creative act of letting go. Be open to a grander vision, fresh perspectives and an inspired view.

Power Cards

There are also numbered suit cards in each deck which can represent the year ahead. With them, we may be able to uncover some more practical insights and messages to help guide us. Read about the 4 3s below!

3 of Wands: Year 3s are not about sitting back idly and watching the boats pass by. Now is the time to act on your dreams and start making big moves on their behalf. As long as you can hone in on something that truly inspires, you’ll be well on your way to some pretty incredible adventures this year.

3 of Cups: The classic depiction of the 3 of Cups sees a group of individuals engaging in a dance or celebration. Let your hair down and cut loose this year. Save the rules and regulations for Year 4, and enjoy the pleasure of life, the company of good friends and all the beauty this world has to offer.

3 of Swords: As you explore all the opportunities available this year, there may also be opportunities to process lingering hurts and past resentments. Use art and expression as a channel to work through any pain. Beyond that, seek the support of those around you, a friend or a professional you trust, to cut to the core of anything that is persisting too long or penetrating too deep. In a Year 3, even our hardest feelings need a safe place for expression.

3 of Pentacles: For all the creative projects you venture into this year, look to like-minded individuals to connect, collaborate and share with. What you create in the collective may yield greater results than working as if you were an island. But, that doesn’t mean you must compromise on vision. The right group will elevate, inspire and add to your process - not take away from it.
