A Personal Year 2 boils down to understanding oneself in relation to others. For that reason, partnerships of all varieties may be front and centre this year. This could look like the blossoming of new a relationship, rejuvenating existing ones, or even cutting ties with ones that aren’t working. As you come to better understand yourself, so too does your understanding of everything else improve. Consider that the only thing separating one thing from another is the ability to differentiate it (or name it). It is through this delicate process that you will come to a greater understanding of not just the world around you, but your place within it.

This year, it may not just be those personal and close relationships that call for attention. All types of relationships may be impacted. This could be your neighbour, boss, colleague, in-laws or anyone else. How you relate, connect and communicate will be a factor of importance over these next 12 months.

Personal Year 2s can be thought of as a giant mirror. These 12 months are a period where you may seek to experience yourself through the perception of another. Of course, this isn’t always easy. There will be times when you will need to come to terms with the fact that the aspects you dislike in others are actually deeply rooted within as well. In looking inward and out, you can expect to deepen your sense of compassion for those around you, especially those that may challenge you.

There may also be opportunities to explore your own polarizations that lead to the feeling of separation and duality. Where in your life are you falling to extremes? What aspect of yourself, or the world, do you have difficulty understanding? How can you come to a middle point, while also appreciating and accepting its opposite ends?

As you navigate your Personal Year 2, be open to the cues of those around you. Seeking to find balance and common ground will likely yield the best results This is not a year to dig your heels in and declare a “my way or the highway” approach. Seeing others as they wish to be seen, treating them as they want to be treated and seeking to understand those closest, is truly the way to get the most of this intimate and connected personal year.

Conscious Ways to Integrate the Number 2

  • Consider something (an issue/value/ideology/belief etc.) that perplexes you, and attempt to prove its validity.

  • Ask yourself: What are 2 seemingly opposing attributes that I possess and how can I begin to reconcile the gap?

  • Examine the following pillared tarot cards from the Waite-Smith deck: The High Priestess, The Hierophant, Justice  - in what way(s) do they symbolize the energy of a Year 2?

  • Read: Be Love Now by Ram Dass.

  • Contemplate the symbolism of The Sun and The Moon.

  • Explore the shadow with our free shadow work program.

  • Select a tarot card at random and first interpret it based on its upright position, then its reversed, and then attempt to synthesize these two understandings into one united front.

  • Carry a small pouch with associated crystals: Diamond, Moonstone, Desert Rose.

  • Pay attention to when 2 shows up in sequence, in a reading or in other synchronistic ways.

  • Embrace the energy of The High Priestess with our Musickal Meditation.

  • In 2025, we are collectively in a Year 9. This is the year of The Hermit and carries the theme of release. Primary Archetype: The High Priestess

The High Priestess reminds us that not everything rides along the surface. This year, it is important that we listen to the deepest parts of ourselves and our intuition. This might mean getting really still, silent and even withdrawing if necessary, especially when things seem particularly unclear. In this polarized world, it is too easy to fall to extremes. The High Priestess, settled between two contrasting pillars, helps us see the middle way.

As it relates to relationships specifically, The High Priestess encourages us to sit in the paradox and complexity of the human experience. People are not so straightforward. We cannot assume that what makes us tick, resonates with another. There is often little logic to maneuvering these waters, so this is where tapping into instinct can be really helpful. As we get to better know our own subconscious mechanisms, so too can we better relate to those around us. That inner work will not only serve you in this year, it will also help broaden your empathic abilities for the rest of this cycle. Just be clear to also set proper boundaries as you navigate the complexity of interpersonal dynamics, both with yourself and others.

Secondary Archetype: Justice

Justice is interesting in its relationship to the number 2, as it looks a lot like The High Priestess and 2 of Swords (mentioned below) blended together. Instead of being blindfolded though, Justice remains fixed on what can actually be perceived, and trusts in the rightness of that view. In one hand, Justice holds scales, symbolic of the need to strike a balance and demonstrate fairness. For those in a Year 2, you must be as objective as you are empathetic, and maneuver between these two qualities (mercy & severity) as required. It is wonderful to be able to understand a behaviour, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be tolerated.

Power Cards

There are also numbered suit cards in each deck which can represent the year ahead. With them, we may be able to uncover some more practical insights and messages to help guide us. Read about the 4 2s below!

2 of Wands: The 2 of Wands is here to remind you of the intents you set in your Year 1, and to stay true to that vision if they are still in alignment. Just because this year has you working in cooperation, doesn’t mean you need to put your own journey on pause. Keep your eyes set on your own goals and dreams too.

2 of Cups: The 2 of Cups is the perfect representation of striking balance and harmony within personal unions. Here, we see 2 individuals coming together on even ground, to share from their respective cups. This is a year to work in tandem, to consider the needs of others and to examine how you’re showing up in partnership. On the other hand, if a relationship is no longer filling your cup, it may be time to reevaluate its place in your life.

2 of Swords: Clarity is key this year. In order to make sound decisions, you must be open to seeing what is happening both in your heart and your mind. Surface appearances can be deceiving - trust your gut when something feels off and rely on your deep inner senses to show the way.

2 of Pentacles: This is only the 2nd year of a 9 year cycle, so you do not need to have everything figured out. Be careful not to take too much on at this stage in the game. Remember, your Year 1 was about planting seeds and setting intentions. Your Year 2 is focused on relationships; with others and yourself. Seek balance and cooperation, not end results. If you’ve packed too much in at this point, turn to those closest to lessen the load.
