In a Year 6, responsibility reigns. If you think about the 9-year cycle as an entire lifetime, a 6 year would be right around mid-age. This means you’re at a point where you’ve learned a lot and you can now use the wisdom you’ve gained to guide you through the remainder of the cycle.

It also means, in many ways, you’ve matured, and with that comes an increased level of accountability. What are your values? How can you show up and lead with integrity? It’s time to be the grown-up who makes conscious, aligned decisions, and who owns those choices.

Practically speaking, this year may be a time where service is of huge importance. If you can remain present and diligent, it will become apparent where and how you are needed most. In addition, you may feel a deeper inclination to organize, nest, or create an environment where you can truly come home to. Year 6s are about strengthening bonds, leading with compassion, expressing yourself transparently and working in harmony. You might even find that you are suddenly the person everyone is turning to for support or a shoulder to cry on - to provide shelter or other necessities when needed most (literally or figuratively).

There is a somewhat sacrificial theme that a Year 6 carries, and so balance will be critical when it comes to considering the needs of others vs the needs of self. Spending time recharging your own batteries will be important in this powerfully heart-centered personal year. It may feel superficial, but even just bringing beautiful things (flowers, stones, art, nature) into your space may help fuel you this year. Make that a part of your self-care practice as much as anything else.

And finally, a Year 6 is a point in the cycle where you have the capacity to begin to transform even the most stubborn personal relationships. And for those that can’t be transformed, know it can be just as healthy to cut ties, especially when done with love and kindness. With a Year 6, reciprocity is key; be charitable and giving when you can, and in turn you can expect support when you need it too. In this way, a Year 6 can be the perfect one to begin to build trust - with ourselves, those around us, and the nature of this universe as we know it.

Conscious Ways to Integrate the Number 6

  • At the end of the day, give a heartfelt “thank you” to something in your life that you feel sincere gratitude for. A general “thank you” is also just as powerful.

  • Find a cause you feel passionate about and donate, lead a fundraiser, bring attention to or give in whatever way makes sense to you.

  • Remove your mask and greet people this year as your truest and most authentic self. Try to also see this essence in others.

  • Consider the significance of a 6 pointed star.

  • Read: The Bhagavad Gita.

  • Contemplate who or what in your life requires forgiveness and take steps toward this.

  • The Lovers is associated with the sense of smell, and a Year 6 is one where beauty and symmetry come into play. To combine both themes (smell and beauty), assemble a bouquet of your favorite flowers/plants for your space.

  • Observe your reactions to people/situations and ask yourself: “did I air on the side of seeing the good intention behind this, or the bad?”

  • Contemplate the idea of a ripple in an ocean and how that may relate to a Year 6.

  • Carry a small pouch with associated crystals: Rose Quartz, Peridot, Morganite,

  • Pay attention to when 6 shows up in sequence, in a reading or in other synchronistic ways.

  • Embrace the energy of The Lovers with our Musickal Meditation.

  • In 2025, we are collectively in a Year 9. This is the year of The Hermit and carries the theme of release. A Personal Year 6 in a Universal Year 9 could be summed up with the following affirmation: “I release obligation and instead, follow the pulses of my heart”. Read more about our collective Year 9.

Primary Archetype: The Lovers

The Lovers represents many things, but to understand its significance in a Year 6, it is important to consider how the figures in the card have been depicted, most importantly their nudity. Here we have two individuals coming together and bearing all - a symbol for transparency, honesty, full disclosure, and a lack of shame. Above them is the Archangel Raphael who represents super-consciousness, while the male represents self-consciousness and the woman, sub-consciousness. Another way to look at this is the blending of two opposites to create a new entity. Alchemically, these forces also represent Salt (the moon), Sulphur (the sun), and Mercury.

In this sense, it is important to see yourself as a vital part of the overall mixture, and know that everything you do in some way, shape, or form contributes to the whole. Nothing is done in a vacuum. You are responsible for your choices and the energy you put into the world, so it is important to be clear on what you’re doing and why. When you are living from your highest truth, you are always acting in service, regardless of what form that takes.

Secondary Archetype: The Devil

In the context of a Personal Year 6, The Devil may represent a need to examine any attachments that are creating disharmony, either externally or internally. These could be relationships that have run their course, jobs in a difficult environment, addictions or the need to control and manipulate situations. The Devil ensures that you won’t get anywhere this year by working against the greater good, or for purely personal gain. You must be transparent, honest, and lead with integrity. Examine any habits that are counterproductive and make it a priority to do better. Get honest with yourself and those around you, and seek authentic support and connections that build you up. Also, consider that The Devil is only The Devil because of the assumptions and mentalities we cling to. What if you could see things without the clouding of judgment, patterns, fears, or doubt? You will be surprised at what doesn’t look so “bad” at second glance, when viewing from an untinged perspective.

Power Cards

There are also numbered suit cards in each deck which can represent the year ahead. With them, we may be able to uncover some more practical insights and messages to help guide us. Read about the 4 6s below!

6 of Wands: It will be important to work with others and hear their needs, as much as your own this year. Representing only your own interest will not get you ahead. Your supporters need support too!

6 of Cups: Earnest interactions are vital. Consider the genuine giving between two children, without agenda. When you are communicating with others, especially those you love, try to tap into your inner child and see them too as their most innocent selves. Consider also where you’ve fallen out of joy with certain things because of judgment from others, and then seek to reclaim whatever you’ve been missing. It’s never too late to play like a kid again.

6 of Swords: The 6 of Swords often features an individual being rowed from choppy waters to calmer shores. Allow yourself to be supported as required this year. There is no shame in asking for help or accepting it when offered. You do not have to travel alone, and there are lots of people around you who can help you pack, carry your bags, and steer you straight (figuratively or literally speaking).

6 of Pentacles: Give and take will be especially important this year. You may find you are on the giving end of most of it, whether that be your time, compassion, energy or otherwise. On the other hand, like the 6 of Swords, it’s important to know when to take the help that’s offered. Also, keep in mind that harmony doesn’t necessarily mean an absolute equal give and take. We can only give what is within our means, and we cannot expect any more of others either.  Striking equitable balance is key.
